Light switch and final side wall

This took me all day today. It was a nightmare because the van is all different depths in certain places. So took quite a while to work out how to get all the cladding fitted and secure. I also had to figure out how the light switch would fit into these plans. Anyway, I got there in the end, here's the pics.. Really happy with the outcome, thinking I will put some elastic above the little shelf, so we can store stuff there if needed:

Lot's of bits and bobs..

Hey peeps, I've been really struggling on what to focus on. I've never known anything like this, you start doing something and then quickly realise you need to do something else first. But wait, you need to do that before then and so on. It's very hard knowing what I can and can't do!!

Anyway, that said, I've really tried to knuckle down, focus on one thing per day and get the job done.
I have managed to get most of the conduit in place and thread all of the electrics and various wires through. I've managed to fit the water heater and nearly all of the plumbing (water pump, accumulator, pipes). Fitted the dividers into the overhead cupboards and also the top bit of the wall on the drivers side. This was a right pain due to running the conduit behind it and the van walls being an uneven depth.

Today I managed to fit a lot of the kitchen and also build the Gas bottle box. Took a lot of thinking to do this, as I had to attach most of the wood to the ply before fitting it. The reason for this was because I wouldn't be able to get to it, to screw anything in.

Here's the pictures of the above work:

This is the water heater being fitted. I had to build a small base for it to sit on, so it was flush to the van wall:

This is the main plumbing system. It is basically just a water pump, with a strainer/filter attached, which then goes to an accumulator. The accumulator, makes the water flow better and should stop the pump from oscillating. The system is a simple pressure system, so when a tap is turned on, the pressure will drop and water will flow. I need to hook the pump up to the electric supply and put a switch in.

Here you can see the dividers in to overhead lockers. I also installed the top "blanking" section. This is to stop draught but also to make it look like the cupboard continue round the van.

This was a royal pain to do on my own!! I needed more arms. You can see I've routed the conduit behind this top wall. This all feeds to the electric cupboard behind the drivers seat. I will need to seal all of the joins because the shower will be going here.

This took all my brain power to figure out how to create the gas locker and also join all the other pieces. You can see the bit I had to create in order to fit everything together, it's the second picture. This took me quite a while but I am very happy with the result and it feels very strong.

Table / Kitchen / Walls

Plodding along still!

Ordered loads of stuff that I will be fitting as soon as it all arrives. For now though here's a bit of an update.

Managed to start fitting the kitchen properly. Need to buy the worktop for it though. Going to just use some 12mm ply and double it up at the edges to make it appear thicker. Then add some sort of vinyl for the finish.

As you can see in the above pic, I have also started building the walls. None of these are actually fitted to the van yet, they are just wedge in place. They will have 5.5mm ply attached to each side and then a vinyl over the top of the ply. I need to wait until I have the ply ready, so I can easily cut it to the shape of the wall. Then I can fit the wall in place and attach the ply.

Finally, my dad found some Ikea bed slats dumped somewhere. He originally bought them back because he thought I could use them for the bed. I thought they were a bit to big for the bed though and was going to just chuck them away. However, I strangely had a dream about making a table (weird I know), so on Saturday, I set about cutting a load of these bed slats up and gluing/screwing them to a ply base.. This is what the outcome was:

I was rather happy with it! I'm going to line it with some batten to make it look a little nicer and also maybe sand it down and varnish it a bit more. It is a tad heavy but I think it will be ok. I'm going to make something at the back where it can be stored whilst also be used as a headboard.
